What is Ascent?
Ascent is the AAOL's younger brother, run by Amateur Oceanic Esports (that's us)! Ascent is a shorter, roughly six week long tournament. It focuses more on providing a competitive and fair environment for teams than balanced, fun matches (although we hope that matches are always fun). Ascent is the perfect place for amateur teams to test their mettle and prove how good they really are in the amateur scene. Teams of any skill rating can sign up - from bronze to grandmaster.
New Changes for Season 2
As Season 2 begins, here are the major changes that will be affecting Ascent.
The biggest change affect Season 2 are changes to the rules. Here are the major rule changes that you will need to know about:
Each team must have a minimum of 6 registered players, with a maximum of 10. Coming off the back of Season 1 we have decided to reduce the number of players on each team down from 12. This will reduce the amount of administration necessary for our mod team, as well as preventing teams from loading up with extra players that are purely used for substitutes.
Roster changes must be communicated to and validated by, AOE. This rule has been removed to reduce the amount of administration work required by AOE moderators.
All rule changes can be viewed in this copy of the Ascent Season 2 Tournament Rules and Information (Shown Edits).
Teams of any SR can sign up to Season 2 of Ascent, as long as they have at least 6 players and at the most 10. Due to the more competitive nature of this tournament, free agents cannot sign up to Ascent.
